rockin' theatre

the entire theatre was singing the 80s power ballads by the end of the show. it was so much fun. if you get a chance go and see it, we're planning on seeing it again in a few months. mad music from teenage years, gotta love it.

totally RAD!!!

that's me

103 pages done.... but draft one still to complete. i give myself two weeks. ;)

early one morning

just as the sun was rising... riding through carlton gardens on the way to write. how beautiful.

Tuesday 26 April 2011

OH MY GOODNESS!

so i'm a little bit excited... sue me. i logged in this morning to update pages for script frenzy - yes, i still have over 30 pages to write by end of saturday but i can do it. but anyway... as part of the adventure you could submit your idea to something called 30 posters: 30 days and if your script is lucky enough to be chosen (out of all submitted) an artist has 24 hours to create a poster for your film, or play, or tv series etc... and this morning i got the biggest surprise. i had been selected. EEEEKKKK!!!

i'm sitting in starbucks writing this and i'm so overwhelmed by it. how fabulous. anyway, i'm day 26.

the above link will take you to a bit more information on the script as well as the artist jesse ledoux.

heroic stories

a late show of storyteller's club at the vic hotel. i was struggling to stay awake until 11pm.... zzzz.... but i was a fun evening of stories and laughs. i had caught up with trish earlier for dinner on lygon street, so that aided in the "keep leisa lucid" movement.

****

6 whole glorious work-free days ahead. wwwoooottttt!!! there shall be sleep.

almost drowned for dylan

you think i'm joking don't you?? well, maybe slightly. but there were large cats and dogs raining from the sky as we walked to catch the tram to rod laver stadium where paul kelly and bob dylan were to entertain us. soggy and cold feet carried us through puddles, up stairs, down the same stairs, over fences and into the crowd. i was appreciative of the music, not a huge fan but still it's pretty magical when you think of where dylan sits in the history of western music. and i've now been in an audience of a concert of his. cool. and still slightly damp.

look what i made...

mmm.....

Tuesday 19 April 2011

cotton candy and love songs

walked into the city after work to pick up some persian fairy floss. i'm baking some easter cupcakes tomorrow and needed to top the icing (you will see what i mean). from there i headed to trades hall in carlton for josh earl's love songs and dedications.

josh's last year's show on the women's weekly birthday cake book was a smash and this was pretty good as well. made me laugh, and that's what it's all about.

fabulous australian tv

tonight on abc1 was paper giants: the birth of cleo. part one was AWESOME. looking forward to the second part screening tomorrow night. so damned impressed and excited by this.

Saturday 16 April 2011

writing, reading and riding

ran a few errands on the bicycle before retiring to the couch with this book. fourth in the series and i've finished it already... damn it. the next is not out until next year. sigh...

oh, and picked up the second and third season of weeds. entertaining enough.

Friday 15 April 2011

comedy continues

entertained by these guys at the hifi bar, as well as guest stars paul foot and josh earl and a hula hooping wondergirl. then wandered over to trades hall for some mad dancing.

Thursday 14 April 2011

i saw the best minds...

of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix...

allen ginsberg's 1955 poem howl has been turned into a film. i wasn't sure what to expect but i did enjoy it. it was a mixture of interviews (ginsberg played by james franco), animation and the court case against the publisher of howl. mixed through that was the reading of howl in it's entirety. so a bit different, but i liked it. so there. snap snap snap of my fingers.

Wednesday 13 April 2011

stand up!

didn't know that people did that anymore... regular type of stand up comedy. well, okay maybe i'm stretching the truth just a little. ;) irish comedian andrew maxwell had a conversation with the audience. and one total jerk. but the rest of us were pretty cool. a fun night.

Tuesday 12 April 2011

puppets, music and comedy

need i say more?? bliss!

sammy j and randy in bin night. these guys are AWESOME. front row seats, there were tears, there was laughter, there was eating from the garbage bin (jamie). ewww...

Sunday 10 April 2011

the pajama men

at the forum with friends to see this show. these guys are bloody hilarious.

Friday 8 April 2011

Wednesday 6 April 2011

rich hall at the capitol theatre, front row middle seats. the risk was worth it.

Tuesday 5 April 2011

prepared for a deluge

i LOVE umbrellas. and i love wellingtons. and i also love raincoats. i managed to snaffle two new polka dot umbrellas for the coming rain (both clear, one with red dots, the other black). and am planning on making a couple of raincoats. there are not enough cool raincoats around. there soon will be.

Sunday 3 April 2011

today is the tomorrow you expected yesterday
- shaun tan, the lost thing -

Saturday 2 April 2011

festival stuff

i met up with a few friends to be entertained by hannah gadsby at the ngv. she provided a slide show of her favourite pieces of art from the national gallery of victoria collection. i was both amused and intrigued. will have to get back to the gallery in the near future to look more closely.

then a few of us moved onto an early dinner at mrs parma. yes, parmigianas all round. i ended up with the p'armaggedon - i was expecting something a bit hotter than was served up but it was still tasty. then onto drinks at the carlton hotel.

next was reginald d. hunter at the forum. i did enjoy him and one of the "philosophies" i took from the night was there are three great releases in life, one is urinating, two is an orgasm (or multiple) and three is laughing til there are tears in your eyes. ah, good times with good friends and good laughs. life is indeed fine.
