winging west

it's been over a year since i've been back to perth. i got squelched by my sister and niece - i can't believe how tall that girl has got. then hanging out with marija and stuart in fremantle. they have a gorgeous home and a pampered "scruffy" dog.

trivial tuesday

jen, lou and i took our winnings from last week and splurged. well, not so much. we bought dinner and a drink leaving a little left over for those who helped us in our jackpot win. placed third this week, it was a fun evening by the fire and away from the cold and damp.

thoughts on a monday

two sides of the story: written for the telly presented by adam zwar and robyn butler. part of a discussion between the vic writers' centre and the wheeler centre. two people talking for nearly an hour, anecdotes for the most part. wasn't really anything about craft, just their experience which was nice enough but nothing i hadn't heard before.

****

i didn't watch doctor who in the mid to late eighties, until now i thought it a fault on my part. i mean, i've always loved the show so how did i ever abandon it? true, i was in high school and television was the last thing i had time for, but it's the doctor. time could've been found (see what i did there, time lord, finding time...) i now digress to present time when i'm actually watching sylvester mccoy episodes and i remember why i never found the time then. i'm not sure i want to find the time now, even in the name of research. honestly, time and the rani is so bloody ridiculous. the doctor is ridiculous and the effects UGH! i can get by the ultra colour of the eighties but the rest is just a bit stinky. i shall try and get through a few more, to see if it improves or ... even the titles were terrible. sigh... might have to fill this hole in my chest with a quick revisit to present day dr who.

sunday arvo viewing

on the couch with another new tv series. i watched the first four episodes and i think i'm enjoying it, still trying to work out some of the relationships though. a good afternoon to be lounging.

oh... and before that was episode seven of dr who. wow! wow! wow!

sci fi love

today was all about science fiction it seems. writing draft two of the feature in starbucks to start with, then off to minotaur to buy myself a doctor who book for research purposes. totally true by the way. i'll be writing a dr who novel later on in the year. i also couldn't resist buying myself a tardis keyring - not a key to the tardis but the next best thing.

Then off to the movies, yaahhhh.....

an entertaining film watched on the x-treme screen in melbourne central. so about the size in this case. enjoyed x-men, couple of cameos were amusing and i do like james mcavoy. the actor who played magneto i can see filling the role of james bond in years to come.
