what's missing??
so the day started out well enough. i got enough sleep, my hair dried (for the most part) before i walked out of the house and onto the tram and then, disaster. starbucks, changing suppliers, failed to supply me with my morning bagel. yes. no. NO BAGEL. i had to make do with a blueberry muffin, totally the wrong substitute. and now, i sit about to create, to expound and i'm not sure i have the energy, the will to devise my masterpiece after this let-down. okay, so i've been reading a couple of articles, opinion fluff pieces in the GW which has left me with a taste for writing in this tone, but dear heavens, a frappacino and a bagel with cream cheese is all i ask for on a weekend morning. actually i'd give that up in heart beat if i could roll over in bed and kiss a certain boy good morning - but who am i to quibble? WHERE IS THAT BAGEL? thankfully the manager of the store was ahead of me in line and listened to my tale of woe (no, not the rolling over to kiss the boy story, but the loss of the bagel) and promised to move swiftly on procuring a new bagel supplier. i'm known here, i have standing, they know what i like, and i need the taste of a bagel at least one time on the weekend whilst writing. otherwise i'll overdose on sweetness. i need balance and muffins just don't make the cut. and no, i shall not suffer the loss in silence, it demands a call to arms. there had better be bagels by next weekend. or else...

living life
since last we spoke there's been dancing, trivia, writing, a night at the malthouse theatre watching woyzeck. um... interesting. challenging at times. good music as it was scored by nick cave. and yes, that is tim rogers in the picture you see before you.
stayed in friday night. i know, uh-mazing. saturday was avoiding the heat again. and i watched i've loved you so long, a french film with kristen scott thomas, worth a viewing. good chili chocolate icecream at the nova for dinner.
sunday after writing i trammed down to st kilda for the festival but gave that up as a bad joke, really wasn't in the mood and they didn't have cinnamon doughnuts. :) watched an ozploitation film, the chain reaction, don't you love the catch phrase? it came out in 1980 and there's even a cameo appearance of mel gibson.
primal scream at the billboard that night. fabulous. and loud. and funny. we were standing in front of two guys who had earlier stalked the band, had been comped into the gig and were completely enraptured by the entire experience. it was a joy just watching them. so being entertained by the band was a bonus. ha! i did say it was loud didn't i? wow! i really couldn't hear properly til late on monday afternoon.
monday was alex's (or AF's) birthday, so a few friends gathered at degraves espresso for tapas and drinks. a whole lot of laughter, good food and chat. a great night.
last night found me in richmond, talking scripts, tv and film with dave - and trying to get through the world's largest slice of lemon merengue pie. i failed.

dear diary...
saturday i actually managed to start some character development on my tv series - at long last i've got back to the page. that was my morning at starbucks... but saturday, besides it being julie's birthday (hbj in l.a.) was a pretty lazy day. i wandered through myers, finding myself in an old stairwell - a little bit of style was sighted.
i had dinner with nat to catch up on all the goss from swing camp in adelaide, nothing really interesting enough to share. an early night.
i hadn't planned anything besides writing for sunday. but ended up meeting alex, chris and tamzin at ACMI for the exhibition setting the scene. then up a couple of flights to meet jamie for storm boy.
hadn't watched that since the seventies, i held the tears back this time. :)
later in the afternoon we had booked into gold class to view the curious case of benjamin button which i really enjoyed. of course, being curled up on a recliner, sipping a cocktail and eating mini burgers is always a good thing, watching a film is just a bonus. oh and the company was kind of acceptable too, even though i had to nudge him awake a couple of times. ha!
ended up at fitzroy gardens once again with a few friends to listen to some strange bollywood sounding bands. glorious night, fun times.
