and yet another day away

from the office. had a planning day at the city campus, so i got to tram into work, sit in starbucks for a bit before starting the hard "work" of listening to someone talk all day long. i did take the opportunity to do a little day dreaming. ;)

these are the views... i want to work in the city.

sophie's birthday today. happy birthday chica. there were flowers, balloons, cakes and presents. hope your day was a glorious one.

4 days of work-less bliss

this is my fourth day off. i'm including the weekend, and it's just been divine. friday was a course with AFTRS which was suppose to be how to pitch your tv series, but it wasn't very good at all. i might have come out of it with two things, make sure your title is good... and hmm.. the other? well, it was the knowledge that for me to submit my concept document to filmVic i'm going to need broadcast interest. dear god, i'm not sure how i'm going to manage that, so back to the drawing board for a bit. any ideas people?

a whole lot of saturday (except for the quick wander into the city for starbucks) was spent watching my laptop on bed, avoiding the tv and any mention of the grand final. i think i pretty much conquered that challenge. ;)

sunday was SUPER!! i had a few great hours of writing. very happy with that. then caught up with a few friends at cookie. eduardo was leaving for brazil so there was a fun couple of hours in the city before heading to carlton for a sunday roast dinner. mmm... lamb and vegies. almost heaven.

and still yet another day off... had to pick up alex, chris and a car load of props to run up to northcote first thing. we had a morning of tech runs. i got to work the lighting board. woohoo!

alex and i had a late lunch at the vegie bar on brunswick st. oh my goodness. i had a burrito, i swear it couldn't get much better. food. it's glorious.

previewed alex's show that night. it went well. couple of mistakes by all of us but we'll sort them out.

the alexandra technique - see it.

on-the-go saturday

first off i had to meet alex and chris to watch the first dress rehearsal of the alexandra technique (playing at the northcote town hall from monday september 28 for a week). i'm manning the lighting board for the 7 nights, and helping out with the staging etc. should be a fabulously fun experience.

then onto the museum to meet jamie, tash and rohan for the pompeii exhibition. it was packed full of people and stuff to learn. very interesting. makes me want to get over to the real thing, and soon.

lunch on lygon street to continue the italian theme before heading to cinema nova for UP! it was absolutely the best thing ever and you have to see it. honest.

white boys in the ring... la la la la la

this is why i love melbourne. walking home from the city and i see this in the middle of the roundabout. a beautiful day for it. ;)

Tuesday 15 September 2009

i'll tell you your fortune....

jamie's bday and i made him a fantastic card (even if i do say so myself). remember those paper fortune tellers you used to make as kids?? yep, i pulled out the colouring pencils and paper and whipped one up. i do love it when you hit on a small thing that inspires you to greater things. it was fun.

so i just got back from dinner at a japanese restaurant with jamie and friends. it was suppose to be bbq - but it had to be the entire table bbq-ing or none of us. it was a bit bamboozling for a while. couldn't work out what the waitress was saying to start with, but it all came together in the end. i had a lovely evening with good friends and good food.

life is gooder than good.

happy birthday boyo.

happy birthday little brother

his last birthday felt just like yesterday. this year has gone by so extra fast it's almost unbelievable. i hope brad has a fabulous year ahead of him.

(I will endeavour to get more recent photos of him... ha!)

Sunday 13 September 2009

a babble of birthdays

yesterday's was leah's, today ilona's. brad's tomorrow, jamie's the day after. what am i, made of hugs and well wishes?? well, yeah kinda.

there was shopping (a new phone - not an iphone, & clothes), wandering and starbucks and music in laneways...
i've got that lovin' melbourne feeling again.

the eve was karaoke at kbox on latrobe. what a whole lot of silly fun, pizza, drinks and friends. moved across to trunk after that. and the night was just amazing. i'm referring to the climate. short sleeve top with no jacket, or cardigan or scarf or anything. a sunshiney day turned into a gorgeous evening. the promise of the wonderful summer ahead i reckon.

post-work, pre-dance

the in-between moments. playing catch up with a film released a few years back now. a few laugh out loud moments and a couple of gagging moments. but i did enjoy this. i like simon pegg. not as much as john simm though. ;)

i want THIS!!!

i covet this roomful of books. i followed a link to shelfari which is just a glorious idea for a site and i landed in the magical land of neil gaiman. i swear this man is haunting me at the moment.

i want all my books around me. and a big, deep chair without books, to sit upon.

getting and giving

in the last three days i've received two gifts. how great is that? both unexpected and both glorious. sunday's was from tash. she was having a belated birthday afternoon tea and ended up gifting her female friends with a tremendous book.

strange custom, but i definitely approve and will get on with reading it very soon.

then last night at dancing nat handed over a handmade present of woolen sleeves. i don't have a picture to explain but i'll post one when i do. they're wonderful and she knitted them for me. so yah... i love gift-getting and gift-giving (when inspiration motivates me). i'm in the gift-giving mood at the moment and am preparing a few fabulous ones i'm really excited about. man, i hope the receivers enjoy them just as much. ;)

things have changed

or is it just me?

you know when you've got it good, but you still think something's missing...? ah... sometimes i just wish i could be more content. one day... ;)

i went looking for a book the other night, then realised when i got to my room that it's been in storage for the past three years. i swear i've been in storage more often than not. another one day...

dreams and destiny

"The boy didn't know what a person's "destiny" was. It's what you have always wanted to accomplish. Everyone, when they are young, knows what their destiny is. At that point in their lives, everything is clear and everything is possible. They are not afraid to dream, and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen to them in their lives. But, as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them that it will be impossible for them to realise their destiny".
one of my favourite books, the alchemist by paulo coelho.
