the weekend

getting places in the beamer with jamie and simon was my favourite part of saturday. come on, be truthful, who really likes moving, let alone helping someone else (who's not you) move? you say you do, but nope, i've caught you out. bring in the removalists i say. big burly guys who wear singlets and stubbies and steel capped boots. and all you have to do is make sure everything is packed, unplugged and you're out of the way. but the saturday move is over, and all i have to show for it is a whole lot of bruises and thanks from ilona and ed. ilona's new home is lovely and i'm looking forward to going back for a summer bbq where i can lie on the lawn and not have to move a piano. ;)

i somehow managed to drag myself to a movie saturday night. just needed to go for a walk after all the lifting and nova is just around the corner. dinner was a choctop.

sunday was a pretence in writing. bah! and then to avoid thinking about anything i walked into surrogates. it was crap. i expected that, but you know, there is always that little glimmer of hope. oh well, it was thankfully free.

more arty stuff

siren at the meat market with jamie and mark. this was a performance made up of 24 spinning robot musicians. little speakers on the end of each balanced rod which sat on tripods of various height, rotating as the piece progressed. a choir, a symphony - and as you walk around the room you hear it all differently. then as it reached the climax the lights went out and we were left watching whirling dervishes of red lights. strange and fabulous. and jamie admitted he was the first to clap at the end. i was interested in listening to the silence at that point. ;)

& after the walk there was breakfast

degraves espresso with alex. she was determined that i learn to appreciate the goodness that is porridge. i was allowed to buy french toast and have a few mouthfuls of porridge from her bowl. next time i might even have half a bowl - i know, miracle upon miracle. leisa eating porridge. ;)

we also discussed creative plans for 2010. it will be a huge year - might have to quit work as there is just too much else going on. ha!

bought the second book in the griffin and sabine series. it's now sitting on my book shelf, well and truly read.

sunday night on the couch.

and an afternoon nap was had

i seem to come across a new laneway each time i walk through the city - could map out the ones i've been through but where would the fun be in that??

saturday evening was reality tv before there was reality tv. a collection of film shot over 1971-1976, chelsea girls with andy warhol. really just a slice of life. nothing really exciting to be honest, a phone call, happenings in the factory, a party at john and yoko's.

the second film was one big long shot of the velvet underground and nico jamming. there could've been more but about 40 minutes into the film (i had drifted off into a nice happy thinking place by this point) when the building alarms went off and we were all evacuated. it is suspected that someone was smoking in the male toilets, what is this highschool??

jamie, alex, chris and mark met me for supper afterwards. always good being with friends.

another working week comes to a close...

the evening started seated at an italian restaurant with jamie, alex and chris. mm... italian food. shared a dessert with jamie, OH MY GOODNESS, it was bliss. berries, and cake and cream and sweetness. i must find that place again. honestly, one of the best tarts i've ever had.

then back to the forum for some electro beats. the first, outrun wasn't too bad. a local synth band that sounded very eighties. the second was crap. so i don't really want to mention them. bah! then i got bored with waiting for fischerspooner (the reason we got tickets in the first place) - it was nearing midnight and i was over it. so left. i'm sure they're over my loss already. ;)

i did introduce the team to the lovely daiquiri glass though - two to the collection now. summer, watch out.
