new years eve

i spent my hours with this motley crew. and the city of melbourne put on some terrific fireworks. how i love the pretty lights.

new years eve day

a trip into the city to pick up a few things... most importantly a new 2011 diary. had a bit of a wander through the new myer store. it's a little bit eighties really, and not enough old worldly. but that's what the kids want these days.

diverted

got way laid by music this morning. i blame yesterday's pbs. i heard some songs on the city slang program that caught my attention, which took me to itunes and that took me onto other musical tangents. by early afternoon i had another mixed tape for the drive next week. it shall be played whether they like it or not. ;)

today was also about clearing things out, at least from my beloved home. now if i could only empty my head in the same way... ha!

just hanging out on holiday

finished the pirate skirt and put my tags on. i love these. ordered them from the states a month or so ago when i had planned on making christmas gifts for people. oh yeah, that plan came out really well. hmm... maybe next year. ;)

it was a super day of sewing - skirt number three under way. and listening to the wednesday pbs lineup - best programs EVER.

dinner with jenn and jamie and shelley. it was an all round brilliant day.

another good day

put the radio in the basket and cycled over to spotlight this morning. hardly anyone on the roads so it was perfect. the brakes squeal way too much so i need to take it to a bike mechanic for a once over (my mum told me i had to, so i'd better). ;)

then it was on to a day of sewing. first off was a pleasant peasant blouse. ha! the close up of the flowers is way too blurry but you get the idea.



then onto the skirts. completed the blue one and half of the pirate this day. i'm a sewing machine... yes, the pun was entirely intended.


listening to my mixed tapes (ie cds) all day long. life is bloody awesome.

post-boxing day

off to the astor theatre for a monty python double feature with friends. wildberry choctop. mmm....

merry christmas

i had such a lovely day, that seemed to last at least three days long. truly. ;) i wore my new apron to prepare lunch for alex and chris. it was yummy. and managed to sneak a nap in between guests (i looooovvveee naps). the evening brought jamie, lea and terencio for more food and many episodes of the muppet show.

day one of my holiday. couldn't have been much better than this (unless i had actually taken photos of real living people - ha)

over to imax to watch the next instalment of tron, 28 years after the first.


perfect cinema to watch this film, the effects were fabulous and the music so very apt. true, there weren't any twists to the story line. i tried to concoct one, because surely there is no film alive without one these days... but tron legacy is one twistless tale. it was fun and i enjoyed it. michael sheen was AWESOME - made me laugh out loud.

then a beautiful evening to walk some of the way home. just perfect temperature and light.


am just about to put out a beer for santa and some biscuits for the reindeer. happy christmas eve to you all. x

there was pizza and nat and presents. then a bike out of the box and it mostly assembled. i'll get to the rest of it soon. ;)


had to set jelly for the christmas trifle. i used my nan's bowl - she used to use this for jelly too. i love the continuity. and my nan.

completely forgot to take photos of alex, chris, jamie and myself tucking into the deliciousness of taco bill's. yes, mexican. and i treated myself to a strawberry margarita - beats the sangria hands down. ;)

then as we were walking by a games arcade alex felt the need to try her hand at some drumming. they were both awesome, honest.

today seemed to be all about eating. obviously the build up to the real feast day. ;) we had a floor party at work and even santa attended (leonie somehow misplaced her beard and created a tissue beard instead). the pav was pretty delicious.



afterwards i met trish at prudence for a swapping of information and presents. yah to both. so good to see her. and i received the best gift, an apron.

barb & ash's bluegrass sunday

and i realised afterwards that i had no pictures of people. yes, laughing and dancing and talking people, real live people were at this so-called party. ;)




music was played, dancing was had. we avoided most of the rain standing under the patio or umbrella by the bbq. it was a super afternoon. thanks ms barb and family for inviting me to your spotswood home.

living with purpose

a whirlwind of a morning... up early and to starbucks... and i have to tell you something. important. something very important. they have changed the formula of the mocha frappacino. i'm definitely not happy with it and fear that my relationship with starbucks is coming to an end. hey, it's not my choice - they changed, not me.

i was at the doors of IKEA when they opened and spotted nary a child while getting my bits and pieces - yah! everyone there had a purpose. my purpose was the shelves below.


i can't work out whether my wall was built wonky or my new shelves are on a lean... can i live with it?? or could it be the floor?? hmmm...

still haven't got the bike together - need to gather the tools to start with. bah!

i remember watching this at the cinema and thinking the effects were fantastic. hmm... it's on tv and i'm on the couch. memories of a medium coke and a twist cup at the viewway. :)

looking forward to seeing tron legacy very soon.

planning 2011

at least work-wise... the team met at werribee mansion for the day to review 2010 and to plan the year ahead. it's a great venue and used to be a seminary built in the mid 20s.

good film to see

a fabulous movie. yes, it sounds a bit dry - a story about an australian speech therapist and an english king, but it was terrific. colin firth and geoffrey rush were awesome - the rhythm of the dialogue between them... ahh. yep, i enjoyed it.

cakes and dancing

last brunnie of the year so it was people and cakes galore. i made the usual cupcakes. a great night of dancing and chatting.
