memories

do you remember catweazle or worzel gummidge? i was talking about them to a friend at work who's ten years younger than me and had never heard of either of them. so i pulled up the images on the 'net - and yes, they are just as strange and creepy as i remember. especially catweazle, who even has a dedicated website.

worzel was a bit freaky too. i was reminiscing on vintage doctor who, tom baker (awesome) and jon pertwee to be specific and i went off on a tangent of surreal british shows i watched in the 70s.

and then there are the shows that the u.s. and canadians had on offer, gentle ben and the beachcombers.

according to wiki, gentle ben was already in reruns when i watched in the late 70s. gotta love that. a boy and his bear. awwww...

here's something i just found out, the beachcombers is the longest running dramatic series ever made by english canadian television, so says wikipedia. it ran from 1972 until 1990. wow!

how fantastic and strange 70s tv was, especially growing up in australia as we got so many reruns of shows from around the globe.
