adventures to be had

let me introduce you to the coastline of tasmania. this is my first glimpse. i had been invited down to the bottom of australia for the festival of jane and gav, a week of fun that culminates in a wedding...

but it starts here for me, flying in. and then there was hobart.

because i had a full few days planned i knew i had to make it to the cadbury factory so as the plane came into land i hopped off and took myself to the factory in claremont. beautiful grounds and even more delicious chocolate. they no longer do factory tours but i was fine with a demonstration and some taste testing and some cheap buys. discovered fact: my all-time favourite easter egg chocolate is red tulip. it is made by cadbury - only at easter time. it's a different recipe to the usual cadbury chocolate but i think i love australian cadbury even more now.

this was the view from my hotel window, right across to the royal botanic gardens. of course down below (which i did not take a picture of) was a very busy roundabout. busy... for hobart.

oh i didn't tell you how funny i found it to have to walk out on the tarmac to reach the terminal. and how small everything looks. the houses all seem to be one storey and a regular size, rather than the ginormous monstrosities you see on the mainland. i think i found hobart, well tasmania, quaint.

up to the town hall after a wander through down town hobart for jane's choir get-together. she normally has two nights of choir but for this week combined the groups into one large recital and held it at the town hall. how beautiful is this room?

the singing was so powerful and emotional. i didn't join in but sat on the periphery of all the love that was being flung about. AWESOME. it was also sublime to catch up with some people i haven't seen for years, a couple since uni days even. i foresee a theme of fabulousness ahead.
