k@os, beats and mystery

ashley davies presents: the muscle drum music show in northcote.... this was a pretty fabulous fringe show, ash on drums accompanying a few favourite visual clips, including jazz dance scenes, 60s car race to death valley and a rocket launch. just loved the way it felt as though the dancers were dancing to his beats.

then into the city and k@osmos in alexandra gardens. this troupe was part of the arts festival opening. yes, fringe finishes and the arts festival begins (gotta love this city). worth standing out in the cold to see this.

jill, mark, jamie and myself then went onto fortyfivedownstairs for the carnival of mysteries. OH MY GOODNESS! what an amazing trip. walking down the steps was like walking back in time to the 1920s and the crazy, freaky carnivals. we paid our money and was given play money to use to enter the side shows.

i wish i could've taken photos but it wouldn't have captured the colour, activity and insanity that was carnivale. we didn't want to leave. jugglers, slow waltzes with a gigolo, librarians reciting mad words. singing and dancing on the bar. slow, low stories of hardship and woe. fairy floss on the stick. a tent of miracle, the man they couldn't hang and the grand finale....wowee. and we didn't get to see or do it all. if there are still tickets available, get thee there quick.
