the outta-towner

the drive up to barham was just glorious. such a day for a drive in the country. dropped by starbucks to sustain the trip and then hit the open road, luckily enough there wasn't too much traffic around. but what did i care, there was all this blue sky, sunshine and loud music to sing along too.

i stopped in bendigo for a couple of hours for a wander around and lunch at gillies, a pie store that tasted exactly the same as a nimmo's pie. bit of background about a nimmo's pie. nimmo's was a bakery in kalgoorlie that used to supply egshs (my old highschool) in the 80s. they were square pies and just delicious. what was "coincedental" about this gillies pie experience was that this evening in kalg there was a 25 year school reunion of the year 10s that i couldn't get too taking place. ooohhhh...

anyway, lovely bendigo...

got into koondrook just before the second grand final kick off. everyone at the hotel was preparing to sit down, have a few snags and watch a good game. not sure that actually happened... the good game that is. i went for a nap half way through.

people had come from near and far to celebrate my friend jenjoy's belated 40th birthday. jen and iain live in ghana at the moment so missed her birthday in june, so why not celebrate in october. the black tie cocktail party was a lot of fun and i didn't get my camera out. oops... it was great to catch up with jen and bianca, sharna, and a few others, have a couple of dances by the jukebox and huddle outside by the pot belly fire before falling into a comfy bed.
