the muva country

i arrived in the uk a few days ago – the weekend was spent just hanging out with trish and stuart who have a cute flat in west ealing. i somehow managed to drag my 2 cases onto the tube station at heathrow and up stairs and across landings to arrive around lunchtime on saturday.

that night there were plans to meet a friend of t&s in oxford, we got half way when the “new” old car gave up the ghost. it was a very funny situation considering that trish and i sat in the back of this huge tow truck singing along to the radio, i think stuart may have been a little embarrassed by us. ha!!

sunday there was a much needed sleep in – and then we just hung out in ealing – a very cute area.

now today being monday i headed into london proper. caught the tube to victoria station so i could walk along the thames to see the sites. first thing i spied was the apollo theatre presenting wicked… been there, done that. i caught up with the thames just before the vauxhall bridge.

it was a lovely if not brisk walk. it poured with rain earlier this morning but i was lucky enough to miss all that. i was standing on another bridge, the lambeth when i took the photo down the thames to the london eye.

the path by the thames is really lovely. and by the theatre district there’s a lot of buskers out- heard one guy playing a cello – lovely.

next door to the london eye is the county hall. one part of it has a dali exhibition going on and another area has a starwars convention type thing. stormtroopers line the top of one of the buildings and a guy dressed as darth vader – i thought he should’ve been a lot taller.

i fast tracked the london eye – couldn’t be bothered waiting in line too long. pretty fantastic views across the city. the fourth pic down you can see buckingham palace. i'll try and get up closer sometime before i leave.

i continued east down the thames until i came to the tower bridge.

this building is the greater london authority building on the southwark side of the thames – it seems to be a general council building of sorts. a bit strange, but i like it.

but onto the tower…

did you check the ravens out in the last shot? supposedly if all the ravens left the tower of london it'll fall into ruins. i hope these are the ravens – though i think the crows at home are larger than these ones.

stopped by for a late lunch at a pub along the way, can’t remember the name but the bangers and mash was mighty tasty.

it was getting late in the day by the time i got to st pauls. a beautiful cathedral and i am constantly reminded of mary poppin’s feed the birds song when i see this building.

here are a few odds and ends from my travels around the city and holborn districts.

then caught the central line back to ealing broadway and sat in an internet café for a bit. different weather again from the rest of my world adventures. today would’ve been high teens i think – with a wicked wind at times. it’s been fun so far.
