ow!

my feet are throbbing they're so sore.

bloody bloody! blogger saved a draft of what i've been going on about but then i went and deleted the wrong draft. i'm a clever one to be sure.

anyway, today was spent walking many a mile. through the castro, a small part of the mission district, then haight-ashbury. up hills and over dales. i never would've thought i missed the flatness of w.a., but there you go. still have to hunt down a good foot massage before this week is over.

so where was i...? oh yes, starbucks to start the morning as my last post would've informed you. from there i headed over to the castro - a lovely small town feeling to it. i tell you, this city has the most marvellous homes. these three were down a street somewhere in the castro - nothing special about them really, just all lined up next to one another.

then my feet took me down to dolores street in the mission district and the two churches side by side. the simplicity of the mission dolores against the sancto francisco.

jumped on a bus for a couple of miles up to the haight. interesting street - but mostly for it's history rather than it's present. i found more life and largeness in newtown, sydney. but of course my imagination took hold and suddenly i was in the summer of love '67 and haight-ashbury was the place to be.

again, i walked off the beaten tracks and into the neighbourhoods - take a look at the colours on these houses.

what i have noticed in l.a. as well as san francisco is all the native australian trees. many many different types of gum trees. the funny thing is i'll be looking at some scenery and wondering why it looks so familiar - nope, not de ja vu but the shapes of the leaves, or the sounds the trees make when the wind blows through them.

i finally found the park i was after and the view that everyone who has watched full house is familiar with. and the park was a blessed relief for my feet where i escaped my shoes for the grass... yah!

i hobbled to a bus stop and caught a bus into the central destrict and the new sony metreon. quite a flash cinema with very comfortable seats. my feet thanked me once again while i rested up watching stardust.
