thought i had, but i hadn't

told you about my trip to franklin ave. i used to hang out here a lot - planet books on the corner, prizzi's restaurant (best garlic sticks imaginable), small actor's theatre, a record store and... the bourgeois pig. this is a cafe i practically lived in for a while in the mid nineties. it hasn't changed at all, maybe a fresh coat of paint, different faces but other than that, still dark with overstuffed old chairs, mismatched tables and chairs and writers. these days it's wireless so instead of everyone with a pen and paper, it's the digital pad.

and right across the road from my favourite block in l.a. is the celebrity centre of scientology. one of the most beautiful buildings in the city as well. bit of a shame that it's not open to the general public as it is so lovely.

Thanks for posting this. I totally love the Bourgeois Pig and I go there all the time to write. It has a dark, ruminative atmosphere that is well-suited to reflection. My only complaint is that their music is often blaring.
