the saga of sore feet & sore butt
second heart from union square.
cycling. one of those mysteries of life. why do we do it? does it spare the feet the agony of walking or just pretend too? there was a good chance i wouldn't be able to bike this day as there was talk of rain and wind and snow (i made up the snow part - it wouldn't take that much to make me change my mind). but amazingly enough i found myself peddling along the presidio shoreline heading towards the golden gate bridge, across the bridge to sausalito. i've taken you along the journey with me, slowly but surely reaching the bridge and then the ferry trip back. sorry about the dullness of the pics - very overcast day.
not the best photo of me but hey, it's evidence i was actually in san francisco (well maybe unless i photo-shopped myself in).
here's san francisco from the end of the bridge...
once i reached sausalito i needed lunch. so i dined on clam chowder, my first. and yes, it was absolutely delicious. i must admit the name of it has put me off for a few years. clam & chowder. eww... but i did enjoy it mightily.
a pretty town but nothing much going on. seems to be a lot of rich retirees - you know the deck shoe wearing, cardigan slinging types. caught the ferry back to the mainland.
this photo is of a yacht sailing by the palais of fine arts, it had a southern cross on it's sail. bloody australians are everywhere. :)
after taking the bike back, i wandered down to pier 39 for a look. too many people, not enough seals.
and i liked this double decker carousel on the pier.
had to drop into borders in union square so i snapped the last of the hearts in the area.
